Description

Professional Bonding Slurry Primer for Porcelain & Natural Stone Paving

FixProMaster FixPrime is a professional-grade polymer modified cementitious slurry primer developed to enhance adhesion between paving slabs and full mortar beds. Designed for porcelain paving, natural stone and other low-absorption paving materials, it creates a durable bonding interface that helps reduce the risk of slab movement, debonding and hollow spots over time.

Suitable for use in both residential and commercial paving installations, FixPrime supports long-term installation stability when used as part of a correctly prepared full bed paving system. The product is designed for use within paving installations carried out in accordance with recognised good practice and BS 7533 installation principles.

Key installation benefits:

  • Promotes strong adhesion between paving slabs and mortar beds
  • Helps reduce the risk of debonding and movement
  • Suitable for porcelain paving and natural stone
  • Supports full mortar bed installation methods
  • Improves long-term paving stability and durability
  • Suitable for low-absorption paving materials

Professional Application Performance

The formulation combines cementitious binders, graded aggregates and polymer additives to produce a high-performance slurry bonding layer. Once mixed, the material forms a creamy and workable consistency suitable for application by masonry brush or roller.

FixPrime is designed to create a reliable interface layer between paving units and fresh wet mortar beds, helping minimise air voids beneath slabs and improving overall bedding contact.

The mixed primer typically provides a workable pot life of approximately 60 minutes at 20°C, although working time may vary depending on ambient temperature, wind exposure and site conditions.

Important Installation Guidance: Slurry primer should always be applied to the full underside of paving slabs to achieve full contact with the mortar bed. Spot bedding or partial application methods are not recommended and may result in long-term installation failure.

Suitable Applications

  • Porcelain paving slabs
  • Sandstone paving
  • Granite paving
  • Limestone paving
  • Concrete bases and screeds
  • Low-absorption paving materials

Site Conditions & Installation Responsibility

Final installation performance depends on correct substrate preparation, mortar quality, drainage design, weather conditions and professional installation practices. As site conditions and methods of application are outside our direct control, responsibility for assessing product suitability and installation performance remains with the installer or project contractor.

Users should ensure compatibility between the slurry primer, paving materials and bedding systems before large-scale installation. Small area testing is recommended where substrate conditions are uncertain.

Do not apply onto polished or contaminated surfaces, or during freezing conditions, heavy rainfall or excessive heat. Substrate and ambient temperatures should generally remain between +5°C and +30°C during application and curing.

Storage & Technical Information

  • Coverage: up to approximately 20 m² per 20 kg unit depending on substrate and application thickness
  • Water requirement: approximately 6 litres per 20 kg
  • Pot life: approximately 60 minutes at 20°C
  • Colour: grey
  • Recommended bedding thickness: approximately 1–2 mm
  • Shelf life: up to 12 months when stored correctly
  • Storage conditions: store in a cool, dry and frost-free environment

Health & Safety

This is a cement-based product. Appropriate PPE including gloves, eye protection and suitable workwear should be worn during handling, mixing and application. Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. Wash thoroughly after use and keep out of reach of children and animals.

Please refer to the relevant Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.

Commercial Supply Policy:

Due to pallet distribution requirements and handling limitations associated with cement-based products, this item is generally supplied only alongside paving slab orders and delivered together on the same pallet. It is not normally available as an individual retail delivery item.

For larger volume requirements, wholesale pricing may be available. Trade customers, contractors and distributors interested in long-term supply arrangements are welcome to contact us directly for tailored commercial pricing.

Disclaimer: All products should be installed using recognised industry methods and appropriate site preparation procedures. Product performance may vary depending on substrate conditions, installation practices and environmental exposure. We cannot accept responsibility for issues arising from incorrect installation methods, unsuitable substrates or conditions outside our direct control.
